Last year our Wildflower Rainbow encouraged a whole variety of insects into our garden, & now we're planning to plant even more! We've created these "Bee Friendly Seed Packs" to give to friends so they can plant Wildflower Rainbows in their gardens. The more rainbow gardens = the more nectar for the bees!
To create our packs we used a colourful envelope & variety of wildflower seeds that we knew the bees would love. Along with packets of mixed wildflower seeds we used poppy, foxglove, nigella, borage, marigold, & sunflower seeds. We added 2-4 teaspoons of our seed mix to each envelope & sealed it tightly.
On the front of each pack we added this little rhyme & Bible quote:
Help us look after the bees
by planting these bee-friendly seeds
♥
1 Peter 4:10
If you're unsure which flowers attract bees & butterflies check out this perfect for pollinators list from the RHS, or look for packets of wildflower seeds that indicate they attract wildlife.
To accompany our Bee Friendly Seed Packs we painted some Bee Pebble Planters using sharpie paint markers & some pebbles that we picked up from a garden centre. The pens created bold & bright designs & because the ink is permanent & waterproof the pebbles can be left out in the garden in all weathers.
Having seen the variety of insects that our mini Wildflower Rainbow has attracted we're looking forward to hearing about the new bee-friendly gardens that will be popping up next Summer. Hopefully, they'll be attracting as many insects & bees as we've seen too.
I hope you've been inspired by this post & are keen to share a little love for these amazing insects which do so much for our ecosystem.
Why not make a couple of these cute Bee Pebble Planters & share them with friends or family along with some wildflower seeds, You'll 'bee' making a big difference to these awesome creatures!
